GISC Summer Heat & Beach Music Festival
The Golden Isles Shag Club has been working with the Jekyll Island Authority and the Host Hotels, to put together a long weekend event "Summer Heat", August 19 - 22, especially for Shag Dancers. We got inclusive package pricing for this event, so that the parties, live concerts with 4 Great Beach Music Bands and room accomodation are all included. GISC's 20th Sand Gnat SHAG-A-GANZA
It was a really good party, and the out of town guests from both Florida and the Carolina's commented that our club is friendly and very welcoming to visitors. We learned new steps from both Wayne Bennett and Mike Harding in the Friday and Saturday workshops. Both Mike and Fessa' John Hook played shag mixes that were great to dance to. A late night Pizza on Friday and then the Shag Trivia before the catered dinner on Saturday were new this year, and something that will be looked forward to in future club events.
SOS Sring Safari and Saturday's Parade
It was Spring Safari time in North Myrtle Beach. This year about 10 couples made the trip for second weekend which includes the popular Saturday Parade. We saw live bands which included the Holiday Band, Fantastic Shakers, Legends of Beach with Jackie Gore and Tommy Black & Blooz. We danced at Fat Harolds, Ducks, the Galleon, the Pad, OD Lounge & Grill amd even the Broadway Grill's back floor. Take a look at the Bands and the Parade and you will agree it was worth the trip. Wayne and Judy Bennett will be starting the next 4 week introduction to Shag Dancing at the YWCA in Brunswick.
