Golden Isles Shag Club ~ Club Parties
The members of the Golden Isles Shag Club have developed a group of parties that are different. We all have Christmas and New Years parties, but not everyone can walk to the beach and play Bocce. Not everyone can gather in a member's back yard for an Oyster Roast and dance on a large tented and wooden dance floor, with braziers that take the chill off a cooler 60 - 65 degree evening. The Membership and Re-Up party is special because this is our induction party for first year members who have been dancing with us during the prior year, as well as current members paying their dues for the next year.
Visiting Sister Shag Clubs & SOS
Unlike many clubs in larger urban areas that may drive 20 to 30 minutes to dance at another club, the Golden Isles Shag Club takes Road Trips of 70 - 80 miles to visit other Clubs. The trips are not like the movie "Animal House" as we already have our partners starting out - but we do like to find a place like the Club Savoy in Jacksonville or Sliders in Fernandina Beach where the atmosphere is friendly and the dancing great. It is fun when 7 or 8 couples descend on a sister club, and we like it just as much when we can welcome them to Ziggy's. The club members get their SOS cards early so. you will always find 10 to 20 of us at both the SOS ~ Spring Safari and the SOS ~ Fall Migration.
