GISC Summer Heat & Beach Music Festival
The Golden Isles Shag Club has been working with the Jekyll Island Authority and the Hampton Inn & Suites, to put together a long weekend event "Summer Heat", specially for Shag Dancers. We made a decision to get an all inclusive package price for this event, so that the parties, workshops, live concerts and your room accomodation were all included. The event starts with a Kick Off Party & Dance Thursday night at the Hampton Inn. On Friday we start the day with an Intermediate Shag workshop in the morning and a Pool Party in the afternoon, hosted by the GISC club DJ Wayne Bennett. The action continues at the Convention Center on Friday night where you can dance to the Band of Oz, Tommy Black and Blooz with Christine Cooper. The convention center venue has space for over 2,000 to dance, socialize and partake of an adult beverage or two - it will be fun!
On Saturday the JIA hosts the free "Beach Blast" between 12:00 and 4:00 with 3 live bands performing on the beach. Saturday Night you return to the Convention Center where you can dance to performances by the Craig Woolard Band and the Swingin' Medallions in a "Bring Down the House" finale. On Sunday we end our first Summer Heat with a "Breakfast & Gospel Hour" hosted by the Jekyll Island Authority.
In organizing the event, the team has worked hard to give great value for money. We have targeted an early registration price of $350/couple for the event. This price covers the Kick Off Shag Party at the Hampton Inn & Suites, all 3 nights double occupancy at the Hampton Inn & Suites including buffet breakfast; passes for the Friday and Saturday Night Band Concerts at the Convention Center. The Intermediate Shag workshop and Pool Party on Friday are free to registered Summer Heat event attendees. The Saturday "Beach Blast" and "Firework Finale" are free to everyone.
